Universal Rarity Scale

CONECA has officially adopted the Universal Rarity Scale (URS), devised by Q. David Bowers, as the means by which we will show degree of rarity for any given variety (see table below). Through the years, many methods have been used to identify relative rarity, but this one has taken the hobby by storm in recent years. It is by far the most defined and adaptable system currently known. By acting as a variety clearinghouse, CONECA will be able to assign URS values with a great degree of accuracy. A word of caution is necessary. We fully expect the URS figures given in our attribution guides to change, sometimes dramatically, as interest in varieties increase.
